CKA U16 Inter-area 2010 report

The new CKA U16s team triumphed in a three-way series against teams representing London and Norfolk on January 30th.

These were the CKA U16s team’s first matches together, and were taking on a strong Norfolk team and a young London team – both sets of opposition including players from the England youth set-up.

The first match was against Norfolk. The game was very close with either team leading at different times. CKA were one goal up at half time. Despite Norfolk going into the lead, we managed to come back and were up by two with only a couple of minutes to go. But two late Norfolk goals meant the match ended all square – 10-10.

In the next game, Norfolk beat London by three goals.

Then it was CKA’s turn to take on the London team. This match was slighly more comfortable for the CKA team, leading by a goal or two throughout, before stretching their lead in the end, making the final score 13-7 in CKA’s favour.

All of this meant that the CKA team and Norfolk were tied on three points, but CKA just took the competition with a superior goal difference.

Top scorer on the day was Vikings’ Helen Johnson, who scored 6 goals over the two CKA games. Next best was Vikings’ Olly Watts, who scored 4 goals plus a penalty. However almost all of the players got on the scoresheet.

CKA squad: Joseph Murfitt (Littleport Lions), Toby Clarke, Tom Northfield, Paul Kim, Rebecca West, Charlotte O’Sullivan (Cambridge Tigers), Olly Watts, Alex Seabright, Ant Brolia, Jamie Cranwell, Helen Johnson, Robyn Seabright (Ely Vikings).
